Harihar Fort

Also called Harshagad, the Harihar fort is located not far from Igatpuri. It was constructed during the Yadava period and has been surrendered and captured several times in the past. The fort is a rectangular structure standing upon a triangular base. It has a small Shiva temple at the top and a pond that was used for drinking water. It’s strange, almost vertical rock-cut steps are extremely difficult to scale, thereby inviting mountaineers and trekkers from all over the world.
What to do
The most remarkable thing about this fort is that it appears to be rectangular in shape from the base village, built on a triangular prism of rock – the edges of this stunning fort is absolutely vertical, further adding to the uniqueness of this stunning ancient fort.
