Ravan Dahan

Dussehra is one of the biggest Hindu festivals celebrated in India. With effigies of the ten-headed king Ravan being set aflame, Dussehra symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, and Nashik being a holy land, sees this festival unfold in all its pomp and glory. Customarily, the city’s oldest and most prominent Ravan Dahan event, featuring Ravan effigies as tall as 55 feet, is held at the banks of the Godavari in Panchvati. However recently, newer sites boasting of even taller effigies have started gaining popularity.
